How is Whiplash fishing braid line different from other braided superlines
Whiplash is superior for several reasons:
- Made from Micro Dyneema®, which is the strongest gel-spun polyethylene in the world. Micro Dyneema is 40% stronger than Spectra, and 20% stronger than Spectra 2000. Berkley is the exclusive processor of Micro Dyneema for fishing lines in the world.
- Advanced coloration. Whiplash is colored with proprietary technology far superior to any other braided super line. Whiplash is colored directly into the fibers, not coated with alternate materials to obtain color or "smoothness", such as T.U.F.F. Plus®, Power Pro®, Spiderwire®, Fusion®, even Berkley Gorilla Braid or Ultra Max. Thus, Whiplash is more colorfast, thinner in diameter, and "cleaner" to fish with since it has no coating to flake or wear off.
- Tight weave braid. Whiplash is processed differently than traditional braids, giving it a tighter, smoother braid, making it easier to cast and tie stronger knots. It is less likely to "dig" into reels and creates less friction through rod and reel guides.
- More fibers for better performance. Whiplash uses more fiber bundles when braiding, contributing to the performance and knot strength.
- Smaller diameter. Whiplash has a thinner diameter than competitive brands, increasing the reel capacity and casting distance.
What other advantages does Whiplash fishing braid line offer
Whiplash is made from 100% gel-spun fibers, giving it all the advantages of a superline.
- Incredible strength-to-diameter ratio. Whiplash is up to 5 times thinner than nylon monofilaments for the same breaking strength. This offers anglers better casting distance and lure action. Lures dive deeper and faster with Whiplash and it is less visible to fish. Anglers can spool more line on their reels.
- Superior sensitivity. Whiplash has very little stretch, transmitting all bumps, ticks and strikes instantly to the rod tip and reel. This provides more instant and positive hook sets.
Where is Whiplash fishing braid line best applicable
Whiplash is designed and offered in sizes 20 through 200 lb for big game fishing. Best suited for baitcast reels, Whiplash is ideal for all saltwater species when trolling, deep water jigging or live bait fishing. Whiplash is an excellent substitute for nylon and polyester braided lines for muskie, large pike or giant catfish. It can handle large crankbaits or heavy jigs or sinkers.
What should anglers be aware of
- Whiplash, like other superlines, requires a palomar knot for best results .
- Spool reels with mono backing before spooling Whiplash. This prevents the line from "slipping" on the reel and conserves line. It also adds firmness to the spool for better casting and less backlashes. Tie a Uni to Uni knot to connect to the mono.
- Do not overfill reels. Overfilling creates loose strands after a cast and more backlashes. Fill to within 1/8" of spool rim
